Centre for Research for Innovation in Mental Health to be set up at NIMHANS

A new Centre for Advanced Research for Innovation in Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences will be established at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) here, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad announced today.
 
Speaking at the 16th annual convocation of NIMHANS, Azad said the new centre would be supported by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for manpower development as well as projects on translational research.
 
Vice-President M Hamid Ansari was the Chief Guest the convocation, which was also attended by Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj.
 
Ansari spoke of the need to address issues relating to the stigma of mental illness in the country even while making efforts to improve the infrastructure and human resources for ensuring mental health services.
