The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a circular on safety guidelines for operation of small aircraft and helicopters in view of the coming Assembly elections in five States.

The run-up to the elections will see a large number of political leaders criss-crossing the five States for campaigning. In the past, there have been safety concerns after some mishaps and near-mishaps occurred.

The circular was issued after the DGCA held a meeting with non-scheduled operator permit (NSOP) holders and private operators here today.

At the meeting, the DGCA stressed that, in order to have a safe and incident-free flying, management and the individuals flying the machine should play a bigger role.
