Four killed in collision between two cars in Maharashtra

Four youths were killed and six others injured in a head-on collision between two cars at Wagha Pada in Mharal village of Kalyan taluka shortly before midnight last night, police said.

The youth were residents of Ulhasnagar camp. They were travelling in a Toyota Innova car, on way from Ulhasnagar to Murbad. The accident occurred around 2350 hrs last night.

Murbad taluka is celebrating the "Mhasa Yatra", a historical event, which is visited by lakhs of devotees and the victims were heading for the celebrations.

All the injured were initially admitted to the Ulhasnagar central hospital but later shifted to the Sion Hospital in Mumbai, police added.

Police sub-inspector A G Kumbhar of Kalyan taluka police station said the deceased were identified as Bharat Pardeshi (22), Hemlal Jaiswal (20), Ankush Patera (25) and Pawan Ghawal (25).

The police have registered a case and are probing the matter further.
