Kerala: Achuthanandan offers to quit following vigilance case

Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly V S Achuthanandan today sought permission from the CPI(M)'s Central leadership to resign from the post in connection with a vigilance case filed against him.
 
Party sources said the opposition leader contacted the Central leaders and sought their permission following the inclusion of his name as the first accused in an FIR registered by the vigilance department in Kasargod today.
 
The FIR was in connection with his alleged involvement in allotment of 2.33 acres of land to one of his relatives.
 
Though Achuthanandan offered to resign, the Central leadership refused to give permission for his resignation.
