The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure (CCI) approved the implementation of the project of four- laning of the 104.770 km stretch of National Highway (NH)-73 in Haryana.

The project, on the Uttar Pradesh/Haryana border – Yamunagar – Saha – Barwala - Panchkula section on NH 73, is being taken up under Phase III of the National Highway Development Programme (NHDP) on DBFOT basis in BOT (Toll) mode of delivery.

The total project cost has been estimated at Rs.1021.16 crore, out of which Rs.86.23 crore will be for the land acquisition, rehabilitation, resettlement and pre-construction.

According to an official press release, the project, when completed, will reduce the time and cost of travel for traffic, particularly heavy vehicles, on the stretch. It will also increase the employment potential for the local labourers for the project activities, it said.

The project is also aimed at expediting the improvement of infrastructure in Haryana. Among other things, it is expected to reduce the traffic congestion in the towns of Yamunagar, Saha, Shahazadopur and Dangri Barwala due to the construction of bypasses.

The project covers the districts of Yamunagar, Ambala and Panchkula in Haryana.
