The opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has convened its General Council, the highest policy-level decision-making body of the party, to meet on February 3.
This would be the first meeting of the General Council after the party's rout in last year's Assembly polls, in which the DMK lost its main Opposition status, the local bodies polls and the release of its Rajya Sabha K Kanimozhi from Tihar Jail following her arrest in the 2G spectrum case.
DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan in a statement here today said the meeting, to be chaired by DMK President M Karunanidhi, would be held at 1000 hrs on that day at the party headquarters "Anna Arivalayam".
All the General Council members were requested to attend the meeting which was expected to discuss and debate some key issues, including offering a prominent post in the party Kanimozhi, who is Karunanidhi's daughter.
