The mortal remains of 23-year-old engineering student Anuj Bidve, who was shot dead in Greater Manchester in the United Kingdom in an apparently unprovoked attack ten days ago, was brought back to home town.
The body arrived at Mumbai airport this afternoon and it was brought to Pune by an ambulance late this afternoon.
Anuj's parents had travelled to the UK to bring his body home. On Thursday, the Bidves -- Subhash and Yogini -- met with British MP Keith Vaz, who had assured the family of full investigation into Anuj's murder, Rakesh Sonawane, brother in-law of Anuj, said.
Yesterday, the family completed all the formalities for bringing back Anuj's body to Pune. They also visited the spot where he was shot dead and offered prayers there.
Kiaran Stapleton (20) has been charged with Anuj's murder.
Mr Sonawane said the funeral is expected to take place at Yerawada crematarium ground after 2000 hrs tonight, which is to be attended by a large number of people from different walks of life.
