The Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) International, an organisation of overseas Indians, has appointed Dubai-based Indian journalist Issac John Pattaniparampil as chairperson of its Global Media Council.

Ashok Ramsaran, president of the New York-based non-partisan, non-sectarian organisation, said the selection of Issac to head the Media Council was based primarily on his many years of service to the Indian community in the Middle East and his contribution as a prominent journalist.

"The Executive Council of GOPIO International in unanimously approving Issac’s  appointment  has also  considered  his vast experience and knowledge in serving in the larger Indian and multi-ethnic community as well as his commitment and interest in GOPIO and its objectives," Ramsaran said.
