CBI announces Rs 5 lakh for information about activist's killers

The Pune unit of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh to any person who provides information about suspects involved in the murder of Right to Information (RTI) activist Satish Shetty.
 
Shetty was killed near his residence at Talegaon Dabhade on January 13, 2010. The Pune rural police had conducted investigations and filed a charge sheet against a criminal lawyer and others. 
 
The Bombay High Court had taken suo motu cognisance of the murder and had directed the CBI to conduct investigations.
 
CBI Superintendent of Police Vidya Kulkarni said, "Anybody giving information regarding the accused persons involved in the crime leading to their arrest in this case will be given a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh."
 
The identity of the informant will be protected, she said in a statement.
