Centre sets up inter-ministerial team to assess damage caused by cyclone "Thane"

The Government has constituted an Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) for an on-the-spot assessment of the damage caused by cyclone "Thane" in Cuddalore and other districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry last month.
 
The IMCT, led by Ministry of Home Affairs, consists of representatives from the Ministries/ Departments of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (Fisheries), Drinking Water, Finance (Department of Expenditure), Health, Power, Road Transport & Highways, Rural Development, Water Resources and Planning Commission.
 
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will also be represented in the Team, an official press release said.
 
It said the team would visit the affected areas shortly in consultation with the Governments of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.
