Samir Brahmachari gets two-year extension as CSIR chief

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of service of Samir K. Brahmachari, Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research for a period of two years beyond December 31, 2011.

An official press release said that the Competent Authority had also approved that P.K. Chaudhary, IAS (HY:77) Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry will hold the additional charge of the post of Secretary, Ministry of Textiles for a period of three months with effect from the date of retirement of Rita Menon, IAS (UP:75) or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
