Patil dedicates ISRO's new Mission Control Centre, Launch Control Centre to nation

President Pratibha Patil today inaugurated Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) new Mission Control Centre and Launch Control Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, 100 km north of Chennai, and dedicated them to the nation.
 
ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishnan made a brief presentation on the Indian space programme to the President and explained the exhibits displayed at the control centre.
 
Patil interacted with senior ISRO scientists and witnessed the simulation of a PSLV launch in the control centre. She also visited the First Launch Pad to witness the assembly activities of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C19) scheduled for launch in the coming months.
 
The President also presented ISRO awards to eminent scientists and engineers during her visit.
 
The President was accompanied by Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan; Minister of State (PMO) V Narayanasamy; Minister in waiting Sunitha Lakshma Reddy; Members of Parliament and a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Andhra Pradesh.
