Three Maoists killed in encounter with police in Bihar

Three members of the proscribed CPI (Maoist) have been killed in an encounter with police near Mathiyaon village under Chutiya police station area in Rohtas district of Bihar.
Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said here today that, acting on a tip-off that some Maoists were to take shelter in Kaimur hills, a raid was conducted by a joint team of CRPF and COBRA battalion near Mihiyaon village last night.
"As the CRPF and COBRA jawans neared the hideout, the Maoists opened fire on them, resulting in a fierce encounter," Maharaj said.
He said three Maoists were killed on the spot in the encounter while one was arrested.
"Four sophisticated fire-arms, three rifles including two automatic ones, one pistol and a large number of live cartridges were seized during the search operation," he said.
Maharaj said the arrested person was being interrogated while those killed in the encounter had not been identified so far.
