Anna Hazare admitted in Pune hospital, told not to fast again

Veteran social activist Anna Hazare was admitted to a private hospital here today as his condition deteriorated due to various ailments such as chest congestion, backache and cough that had dogged him even before he began his fast in Mumbai for a strong Lokpal Bill last week.
The 74-year-old Gandhian, who has not been keeping well since last eight days, is suffering from severe chest congestion from last night.
He was admitted in a super deluxe ward of the Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Hospital today, said Dr Parag Sancheti, who attending on Hazare along with other team of doctors here.
Dr Sancheti said Hazare was on anti-inflammatory drugs, cough syrup and antibiotics.
He also said the Gandhian's health was improving fast but he would have to be in hospital for at least five days.
"We will not allow him to get discharge from the hospital till he recovers fully," Dr Sancheti told UNI.
He advised the social activist not to go for any agitation or fasting in the future due to his weakness.
Suresh Pathare, the personal secretary of Hazare, requested volunteers of India Against Corruption who have gathered outside the hospital as well as journalists not to disturb Hazare, as he will himself come out in the evening and brief them about his health.
Hazare has not met his supporters or villagers ever since he returned from Mumbai because of his poor health, said Anil Sharma, the activist's personal assistant.
Due to his ill health, the two-day meeting of Team Anna's core committee members, scheduled to be held from tomorrow at his native village Ralegan Siddhi, near here, had been cancelled, said another of his aides.
