Four killed as mini-van knocks down motorcylists in Tamil Nadu

Four people, travelling on two motorbikes, were killed after being hit by a mini-van near Natham Koot Road on the Sadurangapattinam-Tirukazhukundram State Highway in this district of Tamil Nadu today.
Police said the dawn of the New Year turned out to be tragic for the victims, hailing from Nallur village and Natham village near Sadurangapattinam, who were proceeding to Tirukazhukundram when the accident occurred.
The driver of the mini-van, which was proceeding to Sadurangapattinam from Tirukazhukundram, had allegedly dozed off resulting in the mishap.
Krishnamurthy (49) and his friend Meganathan (30), hailing from Nallur village were travelling on one two-wheeler, while Sundararajan (28) and Boopoathy (50) from Natham village were travelling on another motorcyle, when they were hit by the van.
All the four were thrown off from their vehicles and died on the spot.
Kancheepuram District Superintendent of Police S Manoharan rushed to the spot. The bodies were taken to Chengalpattu Government Hospital for autopsy.
