PM to begin New Year with prayers at Golden Temple

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in this holy city this evening and will pay obeisance at the historic Golden Temple here on the first day of the New Year tomorrow.

Singh, after his arrival here, drove straight from the airport to the Circuit House along with his wife Gursharan Kaur.
 
The Prime Minister will visit the holiest Sikh shrine early morning tomorrow to pay his obeisance and is expected to hear the Shabad Kirtan (holy hymns) for some time. 
 
He will also pay his obeisance at the Durgiana temple in the city later. 
 
Security has been tightened in the holy city and around the Golden temple in view of Singh's visit.
