Social activist Anna Hazare, who is unwell, has cancelled the two-day meeting of the core committee of Team Anna, the informal name given to the group that is spearheading his anti-corruption campaign across the country.
The decision was announced by Hazare at a meeting with people in his village here this morning.
They had requested him to call off the meeting and it will be rescheduled after he fully recovered, Suresh Pathare, personal secretary of Hazare, said.
Dr Devlat Pote, Hazare's physician, who examined him this morning, said his fever had subsided but he still had cough and cold. "He is very weak due to fasting and needs to rest at least for another seven days," Pote said.
Hazare, 74, who was resting in his room, did not entertain visitors.
The social activist said he would again launch the movement against corruption once he feels better, and fight till a strong Lokpal Bill is passed.
The core committee meeting was scheduled to be held here to chalk out a strategy for the movement. The fresh date will be declared by Hazare, according to Jaisingh Mapari, the sarpanch of Ralegan Siddhi.
Dr Syed Rafique Gafoor, who is also attending on Hazare, told UNI that Hazare's fluctuating body temperature is a cause of concern for doctors. His temperature was high in last two days back but now it has come to normal, he said.
"We will not advise him to speak in public at least for 10 days due to his weakness," he said.
He said Hazare's health would have to be closely monitored at least over a week.
