Dantewada SP shunted out after Naxalites blow up police station
The Chhattisgarh government has transferred Dantewada Superintendent of Police Ankit Garg after Naxalites blew up the newly-constructed Geedam police station taking advantage of security lapses.
Besides Mr Garg, who was transferred to the police headquarters here, the Station House Officer was shunted out by the Home Department yesterday following an order from Chief Minister Raman Singh, official sources said.
The ultras completely destroyed the double-storeyed Geedam Police Bhavan on the intervening night of December 26-27 triggering a powerful blast when no policemen were on guard there.
The authorities had planned to relocate the Geedam police station presently located in a sensitive area at the new building on the Jagdalpur-Geedam road.
