5 die, 8 injured in road accident in Chhattisgarh

Five people, including four schoolchildren, were today killed and eight others injured when their van collided head-on with a truck near Ramanujganj in Sarguja district of Chhattisgarh.

The victims were heading to their school when the incident occurred.
 
The deceased were identified as Shourya Thakur (6), Ayush Gupta (7), Uday Singh (8) and Alok (8), besides van driver Surendra Kashyap (22). The injured were admitted to the District Hospital.
 
Arrangements are being made to airlift six kids - whose condition is critical - to Raipur, the state capital, for treatment.
