BJP hoardings removed in Gujarat at Modi's behest

Hoardings put up by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Surat, showing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in poor light, have been removed after Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi expressed his displeasure over them, official sources said today.

Modi expressed his displeasure on Twitter regarding the hoardings of "Sadbhavna Mission" put up by the BJP workers in Surat in "over-enthusiasm".

He said the language used in these hoardings was not at all acceptable in a democracy.

Modi described this act of the BJP workers as "unfortunate". Mutual respect and amity are the fundamental elements of a democracy, he said.

"I have talked with the senior leaders of BJP and they have given instructions to remove these hoardings and to make sure that such unfortunate incidents never get repeated," he added.
