Convict undergoing life term escapes from hospital in Punjab
A convict undergoing life imprisonment for murder managed to escape from judicial custody from a local hospital on the intervening night of December 8-9. Gurjinder Singh was admitted in the hospital for the treatment of jaundice when he escaped.
According to official information, four jail guards who were on duty in the hospital to keep watch on the movements of Gurjinder Singh were placed under suspension. A case was also registered against Gurjinder Singh.
Before escaping, the convict also took the mobile phone of one of the four security guards. Gurjinder Singh was held guilty in a murder case in the month of May 2011 and was awarded life imprisonment. He was admitted in the civil hospital here with the complaint of suffering from jaundice on December 5.
