The Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon today as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members created a ruckus demanding the resignation of External Affairs Minister S M Krishna after Karnataka's Lokayukta police filed an FIR against him and two other former Chief Ministers for alleged offences related to illegal mining and deforestation during their terms in office.

As soon as Question Hour began, BJP members stormed into the well of the House demanding Mr Krishna's resignation.

Congress members from Andhra Pradesh also trooped into the well demanding the creation of a separate state of Telangana.

All appeals by Speaker Meira Kumar to them to go back to their seats went unheeded.

Seeing the pandemonium in the House and sensing the defiant mood of the agitating members, the Chair adjourned the House till noon.

Earlier, when the House assembled, the Speaker led the Members in mourning the deaths of people who perished in a fire in AMRI Hospital in south Kolkata early this morning.

The House expressed condolences to the families of those who died as a result of the fire and stood in silence for a while in their memory.
