A group of suspected CPI (Maoist) cadres abducted seven employees working at a bridge construction site at Pakrighat under Khaira police station in this district of Bihar late last night.
Confirming the abduction, Assistant Superintendent of Police Pushkar Anand today said from the spot that nearly 30 to 40 armed Maoists attacked Parsa village and abducted seven employees from the site where the state Bridge Construction Corporation was constructing a bridge on the river Quil.
He said the Maoists attacked the village and first took away nearly 16 people with them at gunpoint.
Later, the ultras released all the 16 villagers and kidnapped seven employees engaged in the construction work.
He said that, out of the seven, four employees including Vijay Singh (guard of the bridge construction work), Phultus Yadav, Pradeep Yadav and Chandan Yadav, were engaged at the construction site of the bridge while the rest - Dharmendra Yadav, Yogendra Yadav and Anil Yadav - were engaged in the construction work of the adjoining Kissan Bhavan.
The ASP said the entire border area of the district had been sealed and a massive manhunt launched to rescue the abducted employees.
It was suspected that the incident took place as the Maoists have demanded levy from construction company.
The Maoists had recently abducted 14 employees of a private construction company. The employees were however rescued later by the police.
