Hazare to expand core, working committees of his campaign

Noted social activist Anna Hazare today announced that he would soon expand the core and working committees of his anti-corruption campaign within two months.

"We are working on it and the list will be finalised very soon," he said while talking to reporters here.

He further said the strength of the core committee would be approximately 50 members, while that of the working committee would be less.

People from all communities would be selected for the core committee and there would be a code of conduct, which will study the background and character of members, he pointed.

"We have received 67 applications from people residing in different parts of the country and it would be finalised very soon," Mr Hazare said.

When asked whether former team member Swami Agnivesh would be taken back into his team, Mr Hazare said no such decision has been taken as yet by the team.

Talking about his security cover, he said, "I do not want any security but the government insists that I take it."

Mr Hazare also said that his team would esume their agitation if the Government did not get the Lokpal Bill, for establishing an anti-corruption ombudsman in the country, was not passed in the winter session of Parliament.

He said the government still had time to think properly about the strong Lokpal Bill as the winter session is yet to start and pass the Bill without any further delay.

He alleged that the government was trying to weaken their version of Bill and added that "we want a strong Lokpal to eradicate corruption from the country."

"Once Team Anna starts the agitation, then it will continue till the next general elections," Mr Hazare warned the Congress.

He reiterated that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should also come under the Lokpal's ambit.
