External review of IIMs to be undertaken every three years

There will be an external review of each Indian Institute of Management (IIM) every three years, which would be discussed in the IIM Council.

This was decided at a meeting of the IIM Council chaired by Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal here today.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandeshari, the Secretary, Higher Education, the Chairpersons and Directors of the IIMs and senior officials of the Ministry.

An official press release said the meeting reviewed the progress in the establishment of the new IIMs. It was mentioned that land issues in respect of all new IIMs had been resolved.
