Woman delivers child on Amritsar-Toronto flight

A woman delivered a child while travelling in Air India's Amritsar-Delhi-Toronto flight today.

Air India sources said Kuljeet Kaur, a resident of Amritsar who was eight months pregnant, was going to Toronto when she developed labour pains on board the flight and delivered a child.

Both the mother and the child were in good health and had reached Toronto, the sources said.

The sources said the flight took off from here at 1345 hrs. The woman had the labour pains when the plane was flying over Kazakhstan. Incidentally, a lady doctor was also travelling in the same flight and she helped in the delivery of the child on board.

They said the delivery was normal and both the mother and the child were in good health.
