JD(U) wins Daraundha assembly seat in Bihar bye-election

Janata Dal (United) candidate Kavita Singh today defeated her nearest rival Parmeshwar Singh of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) by a margin of 20,092 votes to win the Daraundha assembly seat in Bihar to which bye-election was held on October 13.
The bye-election was necessitated after the death of JD(U) MLA from Daraundha assembly seat Jagmato Devi, the mother-in-law of Ms Singh.
Official sources said here that the Congress candidate Kalika Sharan Singh was in third position, securing 4238 votes only.
Ms Kavita Singh secured a total votes of 51,754 votes while Mr Parmeshwar Singh got 31662 votes only. The Congress candidate and the CPI (ML) nominees as well as five independents lost their deposits.
