4 killed in road mishap in Chandigarh

Four people were killed and two others injured when a car rammed into a pavement and then hit a tree near the Sector 22-23 intersection in the city, police said today.

The accident occurred around 0100 hrs when a tyre of the car burst and its driver lost control of the vehicle. The car rammed into a footpath and then hit a tree.

Four of the six occupants of the car were killed on the spot. They were identified as Capt Ranjot Singh, Prabhjit Singh Khaira, Ramandeep Singh and Avneet Singh.

The two injured were identified as Prabhkaran Sandhu and Amandeep. They were admitted in the PGI hospital for treatment.
