Booth allotment scam: BJP seeks Bansal's resignation
Chandigarh, March 2, 2011
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded the resignation of Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal for his alleged role in the booth allotment scam in Chandigarh. Chandigarh BJP president Sanjay Tandon and the party's ex-MP Satya Pal Jain, while talking to reporters here, said Mr Bansal's name had figured in a report in an administrative enquiry into the alleged irregularities in the allotment of commercial booths in the city and therefore he should resign on moral grounds. The BJP leaders also demanded a CBI probe into the scam, besides the registration of criminal cases against Mr Bansal and ex-Mayor of Chandigarh Pradeep Chhabra, whose name also figured in the report.
