Two killed, 1 hurt as BMW car hits autorickshaw near Chandigarh

Two people were killed and another injured when a car hit an autorickshaw near Singhpura village on the Chandigarh-Ambala Highway late last night, police said today.

The speeding BMW car rammed into the autorickshaw while overtaking it. The collision was so severe that the autorickshaw was split in three parts. Sham Lal (30) and Shekhar (32) died on the spot while Darshan Rishi was critically injured in the mishap. He was admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital here, police said.

The bodies of the victims were handed over to the families after post- mortem examination. Police registered a case against the car driver who fled from the scene after abandoning the vehicle.
