Justice Gogoi sworn in as Punjab & Haryana HC Chief Justice


Justice Ranjan Gogoi was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court by Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia at Haryana Raj Bhavan here today.


Besides the family members of Justice Gogoi and Judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court, the function was attended by Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.


Justice Gogoi was born on November 18, 1954. He got enrolled as an Advocate on August 28, 1978 and practiced in the Gauhati High Court in constitutional, taxation and company matters. He was appointed as a permanent judge of the Gauhati High Court on February 28, 2001. He was transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 9, 2010.


Later, talking to mediapersons, Justice Gogoi said his endeavour would be to provide speedy and affordable justice to the people.


"More important is quality justice. We will all work for that and very soon we hope to see results," he further added.
