Delhi Police arrest 3 for Chandigarh jewellery store robbery
The Delhi Police yesterday claimed to have arrested three members of the gang which robbed jewellery worth about Rs 10 crore from a Tanishq showroom in Chandigarh on January 12.
According to police sources, the accused were nabbed from the Vaishali area in Ghaziabad near here by the Delhi Police's Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) yesterday night. Police also recovered a major portion of the booty.
They said CCTV footage available from the showroom helped in cracking the case.
A gang of 10-15 robbers dressed in police uniforms looted jewellery worth over Rs 10 crore from the Tanishq showroom in Manimajra town, police said.
The accused overpowered two security guards and gained entry into the showroom after breaking its locks Tuesday night.
Police said the accused wore masks on entering the premises and dismantled the CCTV cameras. Further investigation was on, they added.
