Army Chief to visit Sri Lanka from September 5-8

Chief of Army Staff General V K Singh will leave here on September 5 on a three-day visit to Sri Lanka that is aimed at strengthening bilateral military ties.


During the trip, Gen Singh will hold discussions with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Prime Minister D M Jayaratne.


He will aso have discussions with all three services chiefs of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces. He will be presented with a guard of honour at Colombo. He will also visit training institutions, Service Headquarters and various operational units to give a boost to defence cooperation between the two countries, an official press release added.
