Flights to Kashmir Valley to continue during Srinagar airport maintenance work: Govt.

The Government today said flights to the Kashmir Valley would continue uninterrupted during the 12-day period that the Srinagar airport would be closed for maintenance.


A meeting chaired by Civil Aviation Secretary M Madhavan Nambiar here today decided that the Avantipur airport, near Srinagar, would be used during the period to ensure connectivity to the valley.


The meeting decided that normal civil flights would operate to Srinagar upto September 2. From September 3 onwards until resumption flights from Srinagar airport, the Avantipur airport would be used, an official press release said.


"All necessary arrangements are being made on an urgent basis to ensure flights to Avantipur Airport during the closure of Srinagar Airport for 12 days. Airlines have agreed to open their booking immediately," the release added.
