Farooq Abdullah gives Rs 50 lakh from his MPLADS fund for Leh relief work

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah has recommended the release of Rs 50 lakh from his Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) fund for relief work in the Leh region of Jammu and Kashmir, which was devastated by flash floods and mudslides after a cloudburst on August 6.


An official press release said this was the maximum amount permissible from the fund for such a purpose.


In a letter to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Abdullah has also requested it to keep him informed of the sanctin and the progress of work in this regard.


Dr Abdullah is a former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and the father of the State's Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
