Railways' earnings up 9.11 % during August 11-20
The Indian Railways recorded earnings of Rs 2376.90 crore during August 11-20 this year, an increase of 9.11 per cent over the figure of R 2178.48 crore achieved in the same period last year, an official statement said here today.
It said the total goods earnings of the Railways had gone up from Rs 1506.43 crore during the period August 11-20 last year to Rs 1569.33 crore during the same period this year, an increase of 4.18 per cent.
The statement said the total passenger revenue earnings between August 11 and 20 this year were Rs 724.45 crore as against Rs 598.78 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 20.99 per cent.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 61.12 crore during this period compared to Rs 56.21 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 8.74 per cent.
The statement said the total approximate number of passengers booked during August 11-20 this year was 213.31 million compared to 198.66 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 7.37 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during August 11-20 this year was 112.88 million and 100.43 million, compared to 104.65 million and 94.01 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 7.86 per cent and 6.83 per cent, respectively, the statement added.
