Biren Nanda named India's Permanent Representative to ASEAN

Mr Biren Nanda, Ambassador of India to Indonesia, has been appointed as India's next Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the ten-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

ASEAN was established on August 8, 1967 by its founding fathers - Indonesia, Malaysia, Phillipines, Singapore and Thailand.

Brunei Darussalam joined the group in January 1984, followed by Vietnam in July 1995, Laos and Myanmar in July 1997 and Cambodia in April 1999.
