Railways to launch "Mother Express" to mark centenary of Mother Teresa

The Indian Railways have, in a special gesture, decided to run an exhibition train named "Mother Express" to commemorate the birth centenary of Mother Teresa, the Catholic nun who founded the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata.
The train will showcase the life and works of the Albanian-born Mother Teresa, who worked tirelessly in the service of the poor, sick, orphaned and destitute in Kolkata and other places for nearly half a century.
Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, in 1980 for her humanitarian work.
The train will be opened for public viewing at Sealdah station in Kolkata tomorrow by Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee, after which it will travel to different stations in the country over the next six months.
The train consists of three air-conditioned coaches with exhibits about the life, work and message of Mother Teresa, including photographs and write-ups. The Missionaries of Charity has provided the photographs and other material for the exhibition, an official press release added.
