Bye-election to UP Legislative Council on September 23

The Election Commission today said that a bye-election would be held on September 23 to fill up a casual vacancy in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council.


The vacancy has been caused by the resigation of a sitting member, Mr Jugool Kishor, elected by the members of the Legislative Assembly, on June 17. His term of office will expire on May 5, 2012.


An official press release said the notification for the bye-election would be issued on September 6 and the last date for filing nominations would be September 13.
