Justice Bhagwati Prasad appointed Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court

The President has appointed Mr Justice Bhagwati Prasad, a Judge of the Gujarat High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.

An official press release said here today that the appointment would be with effect from the date he assumed charge of his office.

Mr Justice Prasad, 61, did his B.Sc. from Government College, Hissar in 1969, LL.B. in 1972 from Doongar College, Bikaner and LL.M. in 1985-86 from the University of Jodhpur.

He enrolled as an advocate on September 2, 1972 with the Rajasthan Bar Council and practised as an advocate for about 24 years. He was elevated as a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court on April 6, 1996. He became a Judge of the Gujarat High Court on February 7, 2008.
