Oct 14 to be holiday for Govt. offices in Delhi for Games closing

The Union Cabinet today approved declaration of a holiday for offices of the Central Government, including Central Public Sector Undertakings, located in Delhi/New Delhi on October 14 this year when the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games will be held.

An official press release said the decision would facilitate the movement of traffic and ensure greater participation of the public in the closing ceremony of the Games, that will be hosted by Delhi from October 3-14.

The opening ceremony of the Games will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday, October 3 and the closing ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 14 at the same venue, the release added.
