SPMCIL to make medals for Commonwealth Games
The public sector Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) has received an order from the Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games-2010 Delhi for manufacturing around 1400 sports medals of different varieties.
An official press release said the medals are to be awarded to winners of different sports events during the Games that Delhi is slatd to host in October this year.
According to the releas, India Government Mints (units of SPMCIL) have an impeccable and glorious distinction of minting coins and medallions. IGMs also manufacture medals like Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and so on.
In the past, they have been associated with major sports events such as the IXth Asian Games in Delhi in 1982, the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune in 2008 and the Military World Games.
The release said SPMCIL would also be appointed as the Official Ticket Printing agency of the Commonwealth Games.
These tickets, with enhanced security features, would be printed at India Security Press (ISP), Nashik Road. The press had printed the admission tickets for Asian Games 1982, Delhi.
