Minor quake jolts parts of Punjab

An earthquake of slight intensity, measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale, was felt in the areas on the border between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
There were, however, no reports of any loss of life or property, sources said.
The tremor, felt at 1213 hours IST in Hoshiarpur and nearby areas, had its epicentre at 31.7 degrees North latitude and 76.1 degrees East longitude, the IMD said, adding that the it occurred at a depth of 29 km.
An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale had been felt in Eastern Kashmir last night, the IMD added.
