Justice Prasad appointed as Supreme Court Judge

The President has appointed Mr Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad, Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, as a Judge of the Supreme Court.

An official press release said the appointment would be with effect from the date he assumed charge of his office.

Mr Justice Prasad, 60, is a graduate in Science and Law and had practised as an advocate in civil, Constitutional, criminal and service matters at Patna High Court. He was appointed as a Judge of the Patna High Court on November 8, 1994. He was transferred to Madhya Pradesh High Court on November 21, 1994 and transferred back to Patna High Court on September 10, 2001. He took oath as Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court on March 20, 2009.
