Jayakar Jerome appointed Ambassador to Slovenia
Mr Jayakar Jerome, a retired officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Slovenia in succession to Mr V S Seshadri. In a separate announcement, the Ministry of External Affairs has appointed Mr Satbir Singh, Deputy Chief of the Indian mission in Moscow, as the country's next Ambassador to Mongolia. He will succeed Mr Yogeshwar Verma. Mr Jerome had served as the Commissioner of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and later as Secretary to then Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna, who is now the External Affairs Minister. Mr Jerome is credited with resurrecting the BDA during his tenure as its head and for taking up several infrastructure projects in Bangalore. He retired from the IAS in 2006. NNN
