3 more H1N1 deaths in India, toll goes up to 505
Three more persons have died of influenza A (H1N1) in India, taking the toll due to the pandemic in the country so far to 505, an official statement said today.
Two of the deaths were reported during the day in Maharashtra and one in Kerala, it said.
Of the total number of swine flu deaths in the country, Maharashtra now accounts for 209, while 117 lives have been lost in Karnataka, 49 in Andhra Pradesh, 40 in Gujarat, 23 in Kerala, 17 in Rajasthan, 16 in Delhi, 7 in Tamil Nadu, 6 in Puducherry, 5 in Haryana, 4 in Goa, 3 each in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, 2 in Punjab and 1 each in Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Orissa and Mizoram.
The statement said 108 fresh cases of the flu were reported from different parts of the country today, including 36 in Rajasthan, 25 in Delhi, 21 in Maharashtra, 11 in Kerala, 6 in Tamil Nadu, 3 in Puducherry, 2 in Karnataka and 1 each in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
According to the statement, the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus reported in the country so far has gone up to 14,680.
