CCI okays Govt funding of Rs 828 cr for Commonwealth Games facilities

The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure (CCI) today approved funding to the tune of Rs 827.85 crore from the Government for the development of various facilities for the Commonwealth Games that Delhi will host in October next year.

These facilities include the Commonwealth Games Village (other than the residential zone), the competition venues at the Yamuna and the Siri Fort Sports Complexes and upgradation of of existing sports facilities at these two complexes as well as the Saket Sports Complex for training facilities.

An official press release said the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had been entrusted with the development of the Games Village, competition venues for badminton, squash, table tennis, archery (preliminary) and training venues for badminton, squash, tennis, swimming, table tennis, gymnastics (women's rhythmic), lawn bowls, archery, hockey, athletics, weightlifting and wrestling for the Games.
