Govt begins search for Directors of new IIMs

The Union Government has begun the search for Directors to head the four new Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) that are proposed to be set up at Raipur in Chhattisgarh, Rohtak in Haryana, Ranchi in Jharkhand and Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has issued advertisements in leading newspapers calling for applications for the posts.

According to the advertisement, the Director will be in the pay scale of Rs 80,000 (fixed) and the appointment will be made on a contract basis for a period of five years.

"The applicant should be a person with eminent academic credentials in the field of management. He should also be an able administrator, a good manager with leadership qualities, and should be a visionary," it said.

There are seven IIMs at present at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Indore and Shillong.

Teaching is expected to start at the new IIMs at Raipur, Rohtak, Ranchi and Tiruchirapalli from the next academic year.

In all, the government has planned six new IIMs in the XIth Five-Year Plan period ending 2012. The other two are expected to be located in Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
