Mig-27 crashes, pilot ejects safely

A Mig-27 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed near Luni, about 40 km south of Jodhpur in Rajasthan this morning, but the pilot managed to eject safely.

An official press release said the aircraft had left from the Jodhpur air base on a routine training-flying sortie when it crashed at about 0820 hours.

The pilot Sqn Ldr P Dhawan ejected safely, the release said, ading that an inquiry had been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident.
