CLAT postponed after tampering of boxes containing test material
The prestigious Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2009 for admission to undergraduate and post-graduate programmes at eleven National Law Universities in India, scheduled for May 17, has been postponed after two boxes containing test material were found tampered with.
An announcement by the Nalsar University of Law, Hyderabad, which is conducting the test this year, said two locked and sealed steel boxes containing the test material were tampered with, and the latches and locks were found broken, while they were in transit from Hyderabad to Lucknow through a courier service.
"On examination, it is reported by the Registrar, RMLNLU, Lucknow that it seems to be a case of deliberate tampering with the boxes. In view of the above, there is no other alternative except to postpone the CLAT-2009 Test both for Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses and now it shall not be held on May 17, 2009 as scheduled earlier," Mr Veer Singh, convener, CLAT 2009, said.
The announcement said the new dates for the test would be announced shortly after details are worked out by the Core Commitee of vice-chancellors of the 11 National Law Universities.
"The candidates shall retain the Hall Tickets already dispatched to them and they shall use the same in the rescheduled CLAT-2009 Test," the announcement added.
